As their mission states. “The Evans Scholars Foundation awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to high-achieving golf caddies with limited financial means. Evans Scholarships are awarded on the basis of caddie record, academic achievements, demonstrated financial need and outstanding leadership. The program is structured to provide a full continuum of support, from caddie, to college, to career.”
The Evans Scholars Foundation, citing the uncertainty of traditional funding sources during these difficult economic times, submitted a grant request to assist with the support for the three Evans Scholars from St. Joseph County.
Education was important to Judd Leighton, and upon the establishment of his foundation, he made it one of three primary areas of interest he wanted to support in the South Bend community he loved. He was also an avid and accomplished golfer, a life member of the Evans Scholars Foundation, and was believed to have been an Evans Scholar himself. The Judd Leighton Foundation approved this grant request in support of the educational goals of the three local Evans Scholars.
