The Habitat for Humanity Women Build program recruits, educates, and encourages women to actively address the problem of substandard housing in their communities.  Each Women Build home is funded and built by local women leaders and volunteers, providing affordable housing for a local resident while learning skills they might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn.  Nationally, women crews have built more than 1,500 Habitat for Humanity houses within the United States and in dozens of other countries.

Since Women Build began in St. Joseph County, it has built nineteen homes for county residents who might not otherwise have been able to afford a home of their own.  As a previous supporter of our local Habitat, the Foundation has witnessed first-hand the impact Women Build has had in our community, and welcomed the opportunity to provide a matching grant to assist in the construction of their 20th home.
