Camp Lodge- Building for the Future, While Honoring the Past, Serving Generations to Come
In 1940, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Millhouse donated 11 acres of land and built a lodge to house and provide camp activities, medical treatment, and meals for children with polio. In the 82 years since, the camp has continued to host campers with a variety of intellectual and physical disabilities ranging in age from 7 to 75+, improving their quality of life and providing an often much-needed respite for their everyday caregivers.

This lodge itself, however, is in dire need of replacement. Despite many repairs and some additions over the years, the building is physically disintegrating, and is no longer large enough to serve the camp’s needs.
Camp Millhouse submitted a grant request to the Foundation, requesting funds to help them design and build a new, larger lodge with modern conveniences that would better meet the current and future needs of children and adults with varying diagnoses and medical needs. The Foundation, recognizing this significant opportunity to help improve the quality of life for many special needs families in our community and others that rent the facility, joined with several other like-minded organizations and quickly approved their grant request.
