Stock the New Lodge!

Since 1940, Camp Millhouse has filled an important role in our community, hosting campers with a variety of physical and intellectual disabilities. This camp experience has been widely applauded for greatly improving the quality of life of campers as young as 7 to adults in their 70’s, while simultaneously providing a little breather for their everyday caregivers.

After over eight decades of finding a way to serve a continually growing number of campers from the original, aging facility, funds were raised to construct a new, larger lodge, better suited to serve the greater needs of this underserved population today. To defray the costs of stocking the new lodge, some equipment from the existing structure was identified that could be re-used. Serving one hundred meals three times a day, however, would undoubtedly require the purchase of new commercial equipment to furnish the much larger kitchen, and tables and chairs for the expanded dining room.

Camp Millhouse submitted a grant request for funds to purchase the needed equipment. The Foundation, as a previous supporter of both the Camp’s mission and of the construction of the new lodge, approved the funding of a grant, joining with other area organizations to stock the new lodge with the equipment needed to serve their campers into the future.
