Greater Impact Expansion

Greater Impact is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering South Bend youth through employment, equipping them with the essential skills and resources to help them reach their potential as future leaders and entrepreneurs. Initially a small lawn care service, Greater Impact has expanded into a successful social enterprise providing employment and personal growth opportunities in their lawn care and custom apparel businesses.

Founded in 2015 with just two employees, they now employ over 75 area youth who manage over 300 properties, a screen printing, and an embroidery business. This growth demonstrates the impact this model has had in South Bend, and the need to raise capital to expand their services and employ even more students.

Greater Impact submitted a grant request to fund the expansion, including:

  • the purchase of a new truck that would allow them to add another lawn care crew
  • the replacement of an aging truck
  • and the purchase of equipment for the lawn care and apparel businesses.

The Foundation, recognizing the community benefit of providing job skills training for area youth, approved the request.
