Advancing Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Healthcare Education at IU South Bend
IU South Bend is invested in advancing the South Bend region as an economic leader. After significant research, the university believes that the health care, next-generation manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and applied analytics and technology industries will supply a high number of jobs in our community over the next decade- jobs they intend to prepare IU South Bend graduates to fill.
Part of their plan involves the construction of the IU South Bend Innovation Center, an entrepreneurship education and incubator facility. This planned facility will foster close collaboration between the Leighton School of Business and Economics, the Dwyer College of Health Services, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Raclin School of the Arts, and will serve as a resource for students and entrepreneurs seeking to develop business concepts or inventions in small manufacturing, health care, and the fine arts.
The Indiana University Foundation, on behalf of IU South Bend, submitted a grant request to support the construction of the Innovation Center and the hiring of a full-time director. The Foundation, recognizing the immediate educational benefits for IU South Bend students and potential longer-term economic benefits to the community, approved a grant in support of the program.
