Navari Student Outreach Clinic
The need for improved access to health care among low-income populations had been identified both by the State Department of Health and the St. Joseph County Health Department. In recognition of the problem, student leadership of the IU School of Medicine-South Bend conceived a plan to open a Student Outreach Clinic that would provide access to low-cost, basic health care on Saturday mornings when other area clinics are closed for the weekend.

The IU School of Medicine-South Bend submitted a grant proposal requesting support for the renovation of the clinic site in the Marycrest-Hammes-Singer building. The Foundation, viewing this as an opportunity to address a pressing community need and improve the quality of life for an underserved population elected to fund the proposal.
