Building for the Future

St. Margaret’s House is a day-center that works to improve the quality of life for low-income women and children of all ages and living situations. Every guest that walks through their doors are invited to receive immediate services, such as a hot meal, and access to showers, clothing, toiletries, phones and computers. Guests are also encouraged to participate in skill-building programs in the areas of employment, empowerment, parenting, health education and life skills, and through these interactions, they frequently develop a needed sense of belonging and community.

As demand for St. Margaret’s services increased, renovations to their building became necessary in order for them to better serve their guests and continue to fulfill their mission. Plans were drafted to more efficiently use their space, to preserve the integrity of the building, and to address safety issues. The Foundation, recognizing the impact St. Margaret’s has on the health, education, and economic development of an underserved segment of the community, approved their grant request, providing funding for the major renovation.
