Since 1978, Reins of Life (ROL) has pursued a mission to improve the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through equine- assisted therapy. Working with specially trained staff, volunteers, and horses, ROL offers mounted and unmounted activities in a farm setting to participants with mild-to-severe physical, emotional, cognitive and social-emotional diagnoses.
As the popularity and recognition of animal-assisted services as an intervention therapy has grown, so has enrollment at ROL, resulting in wait lists they’ve struggled to accommodate from a facility built in 1994. To address this current and expected future growth, a two-year major expansion plan has been launched that will include the addition of an indoor arena, tack and storage rooms, and a variety of offices, classrooms, and activity rooms.
Reins of Life submitted a grant request, asking the Foundation to join with other like-minded organizations to help fund this much-needed expansion. As a previous supporter of ROL and the valuable health services they provide, we elected to fund a grant for this capital project.
